From Motorcycle Deliveries to Making Hand Sanitizer, Our Employees Support Patients and Communities

July 13 2020

From eSwatini, Africa to New York City, our employees are responding to the coronavirus pandemic creatively and with impact. Here’s a taste of the myriad ways in which our energetic and resourceful employees are expressing the Bristol Myers Squibb mission.

How a Motorcycle Ride in Ireland Takes You to New York

How do you go from riding a motorcycle through the Irish countryside to being invited to ring the Closing Bell of the New York Stock Exchange? That’s what happened to Robert Babington of our Dublin office. As the NYSE put it, “Robert Babington of Bristol Myers Squibb navigat[ed] the pastoral countryside near Dundalk, Ireland to go the extra miles for patients.” Robert was a volunteer motorcycle driver delivering COVID-19 samples.

From Switzerland to Africa: Responding to the Pandemic

What can you do with the extra capacity at your Zofingen, Switzerland manufacturing site? You make 1,000 liters of hand sanitizer every week and donate it to local organizations to help protect healthcare providers and patients against COVID-19.

In eSwatini, Africa, masks, gloves, bottles of hand sanitizer, and other supplies to protect patients and healthcare workers against COVID-19 infection have been distributed through relief grants from the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation.

These instances of employees and teams going above and beyond demonstrate our commitment to put people first. Throughout our activities in operations, recruitment and pandemic relief efforts around the world, Bristol Myers Squibb is focused on protecting our workforce, patients, suppliers, and partners.
